The role of the agricultural sector in supporting the transition towards a green economy

Abstract

Agriculture is considered a cornerstone and a key partner in building a sustainable green economy through the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices based on the use of artificial intelligence and digital transformation. With this, the agricultural sector becomes not only a source of food and job creation but also a driver of sustainable development. This study aims to identify the green economy, its characteristics, objectives, and the requirements for the transition towards it. It also aims to identify sustainable development and sustainable agriculture, their relationship to sustainable development, and their importance. Moreover, the study aims to know and evaluate government policies and measures to encourage investment in sustainable agriculture, as well as to identify the challenges facing farmers in transitioning to sustainable agriculture and to find ways to overcome them. The study also aims to identify the advantages of using digital transformation and artificial intelligence in agriculture and its role in improving productivity, increasing agricultural exports, and supporting the economy in general. It highlights some practical experiences in using digital transformation and artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector to assess their suitability and to try to benefit from them. The study also aims to identify the reality of the agricultural sector in Egypt. To achieve this, the study used an analytical approach. The study concluded that some practical cases can be used as a guide in developing the agricultural sector in Egypt."
